WILDFORCE aims to develop, validate and demonstrate the first European Wildlife Forensic Intelligence System (EWFIS) to strengthen biodiversity conservation and improve the investigation of illegal wildlife mortality. EWFIS will integrate veterinary forensic medicine, forensic science, ecology, molecular biology, toxicology, forensic entomology, geospatial information and digital tools into a harmonised operational framework. Pilot actions will be implemented in different European biogeographical regions, involving Natura 2000 sites, protected areas, wildlife rescue centres, veterinary diagnostic laboratories and environmental authorities. The project will focus particularly on protected terrestrial vertebrates, including large carnivores and birds of prey.
