UNIONE DEI COMUNI ELIMO ERICINI (Italy) is seeking an experienced Lead Partner/Coordinator for a LIFE-2026-SAP-CLIMA-CCA proposal. We offer a high-impact pilot site in Western Sicily (Erice UHI hotspots with +3-4°C thermal anomalies) to test PNACC-aligned adaptation solutions: high-albedo cool pavements, permeable/evapotranspirative asphalts, cool playground surfaces (SBR rubber replacement), and integrated NBS. We look for partners with proven LIFE management track record to lead the proposal.

We offer a real-world pilot site (high-density urban areas in Erice, Western Sicily) with documented Urban Heat Island (UHI) effects, featuring measured microclimatic temperature peaks 3–4 °C above the urban average. Our goal is to implement urban climate adaptation actions fully aligned with the Italian National Adaptation Plan (PNACC).
Planned Pilot Interventions:
High-Albedo Cool Pavements: Replacing traditional black asphalt to reduce surface and ambient temperatures.
Drenant "Cool" Safety Surfaces: Upgrading playground areas by replacing black SBR rubber with permeable, low-thermal-retention materials.
Porous & Evapotranspirative Asphalts: Enhancing water infiltration and passive cooling in mixed-transit streets and parking lots to address both heat and local flood risks.
Nature-Based Solutions (NBS): Integrating green infrastructure to optimize urban drainage, microclimate regulation, and drought resilience.

We are seeking:
An experienced coordinator (University, Research Centre, Consultancy, or Public Entity) with a proven track record in leading LIFE projects, proposal writing, consortium building, and urban climate adaptation methodologies.
